I have a client who has a need for inpatient alcohol treatment but he has Medicare (and supplemental) insurance. What do you recommend? In the distant past, clients might need to go to outpatient treatment first and “fail” before their insurance would approve a higher level of treatment. Any recommendations for a Medicare accepted outpatient treatment program?
      Thanks!!

My experience of late is that treatment centers seem to prefer to do their own assessments – in order to justify the level of care. If the acuity is such that you believe inpatient is the way to go, you might call the intake dept. of your favorite facility [and, with a release in hand] send your own assessment summary. When inpatient care seems like the way to go, I always think of the Independence Center in Lincoln.
