Brian Shaw is an independent clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over 20 years of behavioral health experience. Brian obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and trained at Creighton Psychiatry Clinic in Omaha. He earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Brian is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Nebraska and a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in Iowa. Brian completed the Inner Studies Program at Omaha Yoga & Bodywork Center; he learned how to integrate yoga, breath and meditation in his practice with clients who are interested. Brian has worked as a clinician and consultant in many health care settings: inpatient, urgent care, hospice care, residential group homes and insurance companies. Brian enjoys using individualized treatment interventions that are unique to each client such as: DBT,CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic and other expressive therapeutic interventions.
As a psychotherapist Brian enjoys working with individuals with an array of life challenges ages twelve and up. Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, anxiety/fears, sexuality issues, LGBTQIA concerns, and relationship issues are areas of interest. Brian is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and the Association of Private Practice Therapists (APPT). Brian embraces diversity and inclusion in his practice with respect to all.
